Scarce first printing of this Newbery Honor book, SIGNED by the author on the half-title page. Blue cloth-covered boards with illustrated paste-down to cover, illustrated endpapers. Book is tight and pages very crisp and clean--beautiful. There is a neatly-written gift inscription to the previous owner, dated Christmas 1940, on an otherwise blank page following the free front endpaper, but no other marks. Apart from this inscription and some minor imperfections to the cover and spine, this book would be Fine. A very nice signed copy of a scarce first. N� de r�f. du vendeur 100092564
