[tp]+viii+398pp, b/w frontis, Ex Libris William Blair 24th Laird of Blair with his bookplate to the pastedown & signature ( dated 4th Feb 1827 at Biarritz ) to the title, bound for Blair by Carss & Co Glasgow with their ticket to the pastedown. Lightly foxed throughout, leather a little rubbed more so to the head of the spine which has a little loss & is uniformly faded along its length, but still an attractive copy. Rather uncommon biography of Louis XVI by Auguste Jean Baptiste Bouvet de Cresse [ 1772 - 1839 ] who was a Naval Officer & writer upon historical & maritime subjects. William Blair [ 1782 - 1841 ] 24th Laird & onetime MP for Ayrshire. Presumably this book was purchased whilst abroad & then bound when back in Scotland. Blair Castle in Ayrshire had been in the continual possession of the Blair familiy until the Estate was sold in 2011. 300 grams.
