On the one hand, this publication is a stand alone journal with original content -- sociological and autobiographical writings requiring some fluency in English, French, and Arabic to fully appreciate. On the other hand, this is a photographic art exhibit catalogue to present a show held in Marrakech about ("about us") 11 women chronicling their lives via personal photos from 1970 to 2020. Finally, this is a record of conversations that were sparked in the elaboration of the show hence it is more than a catalogue but also an artifact that is an integral part of the experience of the exhibit using as a point of departure the photo project "Everything is Temporary (2015-ongoing)" by Laila Hida. There is explicit awareness of the fragmentary collage like randomness of the photo selections, their underlying symbolism and codes, as well as the layering of the history of photographic technology and aesthetics during those 50 years. These are women who impose rather than pose, they insist on being seen and not just looked at (in the exhibit and the journal via separate artistic mediums) to be listened to and not just heard.
