No Binding. Etat : Very Good. 16" x 24", 20pp. Consists of a special 12-page section on the German surrender, followed by 8pp of news and classified advertising. Folded broadsheet newspaper, folded again and stored in octavo format. Some wear, soiling to outer sheet, as well as edge wear, some small tears / creases at the fore edge. The spine is worn where the folds intersect. The outer sheet, which is printed on buff-colored paper, indicates this is that day's final "late" edition. The interior sheets are printed on regular newsprint, which is now considerably age toned. One of the classified pages has a 3" x 1" piece torn out of the margin effecting the text, otherwise pages are intact and clean and unmarked.

Original printing in GOOD condition fragile paper. 11 x 21 inches. Coast and beyond are conceived as if from an airplane. Lower part highlights the Nazi air and sea bases.

The cover and the edges of the pages are soiled, have ink marks and discolored. The spine has creasing and a tear near the top and the bottom of the spine on the front cover side. Harry Hansen (December 26, 1884 January 3, 1977) was an American journalist, editor, literary critic and historian. He is notable as one of the many authors who wrote for the Random House Landmark Series of children's history during the 1950s and 1960s and he also edited the World Book from 1950 to 1965. He attended the University of Chicago, majoring in English and acquiring his Ph.D in 1909. After graduation, Hansen joined the Chicago Daily News as a staff reporter and upon the outbreak of the First World War, Hansen became the Daily News' overseas war correspondent in Europe. When the United States entered the war, Hansen was promoted to foreign editor. By 1920, he had risen to the position of Literary Editor and he remained in that position until leaving the Daily News in 1926 to join the New York World as the "First Reader". During his time at the World. He made the book review column into a daily feature and remained as book editor even after the World was sold to the New York Telegram in 1931, being one of the very few employees to remain with the paper. He served as editor of the O. Henry Prize Stories from 1933 until 1940. He wrote several non-fiction books, including "The Adventures of the Fourteen Points" about the Versailles Peace Conference. The World Almanac and Book of Facts is a US-published reference work, an almanac conveying information about such subjects as world changes, tragedies, and sports feats. It has been published yearly from 1868 to 1875, and again every year since 1886. The first edition of The World Almanac was published by the New York World newspaper in 1868 (the name of the publication comes from the newspaper itself, which was known as the World). Published three years after the end of the Civil War and the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, its 120 pages of information touched on such events as the process of Reconstruction and the impeachment of President Andrew Johnson. Publication was suspended in 1876, but in 1886, newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer, who had purchased the World and quickly transformed it into one of the most influential newspapers in the country, revived The World Almanac with the intention of making it "a compendium of universal knowledge." The World Almanac has been published annually since. From 1890 to 1934, the New York World Building was prominently featured on its cover. In 1894, when it claimed more than a half-million "habitual users," The World Almanac changed its name to The World Almanac and Encyclopedia. This was the title it kept until 1923, when it became The World Almanac and Book of Facts, the name it bears today. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.

Cover: black and white photos on a white ground with red sun and black lettering to front and rear; very clean and bright; some creasing and darkening to spine; slight rubbing and bumping to all edges, particularly bottom edge, commensurate with age and use but in very good condition for a soft cover promotional booklet nearly 60 years old, Internally: very clean and tightly staple bound; no markings, inscriptions or book plates; very slight darkening to page edges but overall very good for its age. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs. Landscape Format. Unpaginated.

The classic comic is staple bound, and all pages, apart from front and back cover are still attached. 32 large pages in full colour comic strip. A few folded corners on top right and bottom right. Inside the pages are still very vivid and nearly clean. There are handling marks in the margins, but a readable large format comic in bright colour! A rare collectors item.
