Public Auction broadside for the sale of the Charles Cornwall farm. Featuring a large map showing the four parcels, extending from Newtown & North Hempstead Flank Road at the north, and Flushing and Jamaica Plank Road to the west, with captions indicating that Flushing is 1 1/2 miles to the north and Jamaica 2 1/2 miles to the south. Lot No. 1 is 65 acres and bounded by Garretson and Rowland property; Lot No. 2, 20 acres; Lot No. 3 20 acres; Lot No. 4, 70 acres. Lot No. 4 also indicates a house, granary, barn and carriage house. Auction date of Thursday, June 28th, 18[loss of text], probably 1860 as there was a Thursday June 28th in that year. Charles P. Cornwall was a large landowner in Queens in the early 1800s, with most of his property consisting of farmland. Trimmed close all edges; some loss to text on left and right sides. Broadside has a clean split at center fold. 12 1/4 x 16". [with] An interesting addition is the original 1829 purchase indenture by Augustus Cornwall to Charles Cornwall. The Indenture shows the sale of three parcels (about 204 acres, 9 acres and 12 acres) in Flushing belonging to Augustus Cornwall (and his wife Sophia C. Cornwall) and Grace Magruder of Brooklyn, to Charles P. Cornwall for the sum of $350, and dated 20th March 1828. Adjacent property is described as belonging to Lawrence Willett, William Monfoort, Joseph Totten, Isaac Brinkerhoff and Benjamin Strong. It is witnessed by Warren Cornwall and signed Aug. Cornwall, Sophia C. Cornwall and Grace Tucker formerly Grace Magruder. Clerk's blind stamped certification attached at verso; recording clerk captions at verso.
